Ria Sonawane

Ria Sonawane is a Master’s in Applied Mathematics and Statistics student at Georgetown’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She serves on GradGov as the Senator for this program.

Ria works at the Federal Reserve Board as a Policy Analyst in the Digital Innovations Policy team, where she studies cryptocurrency, stablecoins, central bank digital currency, and other payment innovations. Previously, she worked as a Research Assistant for the Banking and Financial Analysis section at the Federal Reserve Board.

She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with majors in Finance and Economics and a minor in Mathematics.
